Electrical contractor reputation management: a 30-minute setup guide
If you're a licensed electrician running a one-truck or five-truck shop and you've never thought about "reputation management," read this. It's 30 minutes of work that will pay you back for years.
Step 1 (5 minutes): Claim your Google Business Profile. Go to business.google.com and search for your company. If you haven't claimed it, Google will walk you through verification.
Step 2 (5 minutes): Fill in every field. Hours, phone, website, service areas, categories. Add photos of your trucks and recent jobs. Completed profiles rank higher.
Step 3 (10 minutes): Reply to your three most recent reviews, even the ones from years ago. Thank the good ones. Acknowledge the critical ones professionally. This sends a signal to both Google and future customers.
Step 4 (5 minutes): Set up a review alert system — either Google's built-in email alerts or a tool like ours. The goal is: every new review, you know about it within a few hours.
Step 5 (5 minutes): Create a simple post-job process. Text the customer a direct Google review link the day after you finish the work. One sentence: "Hey, if you have 30 seconds, a review really helps me out."
That's the whole playbook. Most shops never do steps 3 through 5; the ones that do separate themselves from local competitors inside a few months. Block off the half hour, knock it out, and revisit it once a quarter.
